Free-agent follies

A. J. Burnett is opting out of his Toronto Blue Jays deal to test the free-agency waters.
The New York Yankees, meanwhile, declined the options on Jason Giambi and Carl Pavano. Giambi gets $5 million and Pavano gets another $1.95 million. Each can test free agency. Pavano is just a money magnet.
