Typical Yankees move, trading the future to bet on the present. Remember, Nady was mediocre as a Met and was traded, now that’s he’s proven himself as a mid-level banger in the N.L and fitted for those disgusting pinstripes, I’m sure they’ll name a brand of HGH for him and sell it at the concession stands in the Bronx. And Marte…dude can throw, no doubt, but current White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen blackballed Marte for faking an injury (sound familiar, Red Sox fans?), essentially calling him out for being soft. Dudes like that don’t fare well in pressure cookers like New York, but I hope Marte makes an appearance today with the game on the line and the man he was brought over to face at the plate with men on…Papi will welcome Marte back to the A.L. with a flick of his wrists and a big smile.
Cashman essentially sealed his fate on this one, and in so doing destroyed what he was working toward. Unless Hughes and Kennedy come up big, the Yanks will have no youth movement to speak of–this decimated their system in my opinion. The “win it now” perspective doesn’t work anymore. Too much can go wrong. Thankfully the Yankees can’t help themselves. Perfect timing for the new stadium.
