SI.com’s Jon Heyman reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox are in preliminary talks about a possible Manny Ramirez deal. According to Heyman, LA owner Frank McCourt would love to add Ramirez to the team. The clock is ticking toward the deadline. A strong package from the Dodgers would really test the Red Sox’ desire to rid themselves on Manny now. Wouldn’t do it at this end. He’s just too special a talent even with all the stuff he brings. It is just Manny being Manny.
