Mad Dog Russo out at WFAN
August 14th, 2008
Chris (Mad Dog) Russo has been released from his contract at WFAN, according to multiple reports. Rumor has it that Russo has been talking to Sirius about a satellite gig. Either way, Mike Francesa is on his own, having signed a long-term contract with the station. Have to wonder about Russo wanting out. His act had basically become intolerable and unlistenable. He seems like someone desperately in need of some sort of a tag-team partner.
Aaron Spielberg of 1050 ESPN Radio in New York sees the Francesa-Russo divorce as an opportunity for his drive-time host, Michael Kay, to make inroads in listenership.
Bob Raissman offers insight into the career path of the MadDog and the risks he will now encounter.

I can’t beleive FAN picked Mike over the Dog. Mike is soooo condescending to the listeners. In the 15 years that I’ve been listening to the FAN, Mike has never been wrong. The only thing bigger than his fat body is his ego. Best of luck Doggie!!!!
Wow…That’s Shocking News !! Regardless if you like them or hate them, there are just some things that go together (even if they are opposites)….Abbott & Costello, Salt & Pepper, Peanut Butter & Jelly and Mike and The Mad Dog !! Sports Talk Radio in NYC will Never be the same !!
dog is a no talent, with out mike he is done. at least we dont have to listen about his tennis game anymore.
