Yanks demote Melky, waive Sexson
August 15th, 2008
Just announced on WFAN, the Yankees have sent Melky Cabrera to the minor leagues. Richie Sexson has been waived, a failed experiment. Desperate times in the Bronx. Cabrera was hitting. 242 and had an OBP of less than .300, which is awful. Sexson was hitting .221 overall between the Mariners and Yankees. He had a hideous 86 strikeouts in 280 at-bats. Not sure Joe Girardi or Brian Cashman are going to find the magic formula for the playoffs this season. Brett Gardner is back along with Cody Ransom.
In more good news on the Yankee front, two scouts have been fired as part of the growing MLB probe into financial kickbacks being taken by scouts in the Dominican Republic.

The sins of the fathers always visit upon the sons. Last place isn’t low enough for these Chokees. They suck so much it’s not even fun to hate them. Where’s Mel Hall and Pagliarulo when you need them?
