The Pine Tar Game, 25 years later
July 24th, 2008
Who can ever forget the scene as George Brett tears out of the dugout toward home plate Tim McLelland after his home run was disallowed because of pine tar above the label on the bat. "I knew he wasn’t going to hit me or run over me and if he did, I’d probably own the Kansas City Royals right now," McClelland told the New York Daily News before manning third base in Wednesday’s matinee between the Twins and Yankees. "We had done what we had to do - administer the rules."
What followed was another chapter in baseball history. Have any memories of the PTG? Were you one of the few who went to the replay? Speak to it.
