An unbelievable game. MJ went 22-32 and did it with insane jumpers, insane drives, insane dunks, insane defense and insane fury. His offensive attack was so balanced but loaded with one spectacular move after another. There are enough jaw-dropping plays for 30 games here for any other player. With 6 steals, MJ's defense was on the same level as his offense - just ferocious the whole game. Barkley all but disappeared. Edited from what appears to be actual raw NBA baseline footage, the first half is basically a front row seat to MJ's domination. You feel the electric, mesmerizing athletic artistry up close in a way that is just different and you just can't take your eyes of MJ's incredible presence. The 2nd half goes back to the normal camera angle. Shot in film quality, this video has a surreal and magical feel. Of course, MJ's performance might have had something to do with that.

Drama loves company. This was one of the few statement games by the older and wiser MJ. With rookie Stackhouse mouthing off to the press about how he held his own against MJ during his summer-UNC warmup sessions, MJ was quietly enraged. To add to that, Vernon 'Mad' Maxwell was upset that the Bulls were getting so much press with MJ's return after retirement that he spewed nonsense to the press as well. It awoke the sleeping giant. With cool and calm efficiency, MJ destroyed the two in this game as their comments were unacceptable. Toying with Stack the whole game, MJ frustrated him into shooting 4-11 for 13 pts. Smothering Mad Max the other half of the time, MJ ruined him into shooting 1-8 for 4 pts. On the other end, MJ chose to hit 64% with a butter-like J to go 18-28 in 3 quarters for 48 pts and 10 rebounds. With his exploits responsible for a 30 point lead, MJ rested the 4th, iced his knees and asserted his physical and mental mastery of the game while marching his way to a record 72 win season that year. "You do not look at Michael Jordan in the eye because he'll take that as a challenge and he'll dominate you. You do not make him mad. Whenever I played against him, I just looked at the ground." (Jayson Williams, NJ Nets.)

Iverson reminds 76ers what they once had in Nuggets' win When Allen Iverson first played against the Philadelphia 76ers, he took shots at them before, during and after the game. This time, he saved them just for the court, then showered his old team with praise that indicated he's gotten over the bitter split. "They've got a lot of talent on that team. They've got a lot of guys that can do things, and they've got a lot of guys that care, guys with pride," Iverson said after scoring 38 points in Denver's 109-96 win Sunday night. "It could be easy for those guys to lay down. After I left, they could have just laid down. But that ain't the type of personality most of those guys on that team have. They want to win. "I'm pretty sure they want to prove they can win without me. That's what they should do. I just hope they continue to play hard and play every game like it's their last. I just wish them well. ... I just want to see things get better for them." For the first time in his career, Iverson may have enjoyed watching the 76ers lose, but he swore he took no extra gratification in it. "People ask that question all day, but my whole thing is to just win the basketball game," Iverson insisted. "If I had a big game and we didn't win I would be feeling terrible right now. I'm just happy we got the win. Like I said, it's just another basketball game, we went through that whole song and dance last year when they came in here. It wasn't any big deal to me. I just wanted to contribute." No big deal? Nuggets coach George Karl knows better. "I don't know if there was an extra bounce, I just think it was a seriousness in his approach," Karl said. "He's been playing pretty good against other teams, too. I was happy for him to have a big night against his old team. In a lot ways we needed him to. "We weren't very pretty offensively, and I thought his penetration at any moment broke their defense down quite frequently. He got a lot of easy layups because of it. It was a good part of our offense." Andre Miller, one of the players the Nuggets sent to the Sixers in exchange for Iverson, led Philadelphia with 22 points, including a jumper that erased the remnants of a 15-point deficit and tied it at 62. Iverson answered with back-to-back 3-pointers and the Nuggets never trailed in staying a half-game ahead of Portland, which has lost just one of its last 17 games, in the Northwest Division. Iverson's first game against his old team came just three weeks after his nasty 2006 divorce from the 76ers and he was still bitter at the time with the way coach Maurice Cheeks and team owner Billy King handled his complaints that led to his departure after a decade in Philly. He scored 30 in that game last January but didn't stick around for the end, drawing an ejection in the final minutes of a 108-97 loss. The Nuggets had already visited Philadelphia by the time they acquired Iverson, so his first trip back comes March 19, and Iverson isn't sure what to expect or whether it will be a more emotional experience for him than Sunday night was. "Maybe. You don't know what the environment's going to be like," Iverson said. "I know it's going to be strange because I played there so many years and I fell in love with the fans there. I was a part of them, they were a part of me. It's obviously going to be different. "The whole thing is just winning the basketball game. Doing whatever it takes. If you ask me how many points I was going to score tonight, I never know what I'm going to do. I never know how many points I'm going to score. If I didn't score anything I was going to do other things on the basketball court to help my team win. Fortunately, the ball was going in the basket tonight." Iverson had 15 points in the first quarter and 20 by halftime. "Same Allen," Sixers forward Andre Iguodala said. "Great job when he is attacking the basket. Great job of creating some type of contact and getting to the foul line a lot. That's what he does. He seems happy. He is enjoying himself." Maybe so, but Cheeks said he didn't notice anything extra in Iverson's game -- he's always going full-tilt anyhow. "He can score when I had him. He can score now," Cheeks said. "That is his strong point. What he did tonight is no different than he did when he was here with us." Game notes Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points, including 19 to help the Denver build a 53-43 halftime lead. ... Anthony Carter tied his career high with 15 assists for Denver, and the Nuggets blocked a season-best 15 shots. ... Sixers rookie Jason Smith, who grew up an hour from Denver in Kersey, Colo., and attended Colorado State, stuffed Nene on an attempted slam moments after entering the game.

PHILADELPHIA, October 29, 2008 -- Chris Bosh just about single-handedly carried the Toronto Raptors into the playoffs last season. Now he has a much-improved supporting cast. Bosh had 27 points and 11 rebounds to help the Raptors beat the Philadelphia 76ers 95-84 on Wednesday night in the opener for both teams. Jermaine O'Neal added 17 and Jason Kapono had 15 for the Raptors, who finished 41-41 last season. The Raptors improved drastically when they acquired O'Neal, a six-time All-Star, from the Indiana Pacers on July 9. He appears to be healthy after missing 40 games last season because of lingering pain from a torn ligament in his left knee that was surgically repaired the previous summer. "I feel really good," O'Neal said. "I said from the time I got here that I wanted to be part of the team and bring playoff-type intensity every night. We have to treat every game like a playoff game." The start of the game was moved up an hour to 6 p.m. because the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays were set to resume the bottom of the sixth inning of Game 5 of the World Series at 8:37 p.m. across the street at Citizens Bank Park. Many fans attending the Sixers game were wearing Phillies attire in anticipation of the city's first major professional sports championship since 1983 when Philadelphia swept the Los Angeles Lakers. Still, it was a sparse crowd with pockets of empty seats scattered throughout the 20,000-plus seat Wachovia Center. In the second half, chants of "Let's go Phillies!" began to resonate in parts of the arena, especially as fans began to file out. "I can't say enough about our defense," Toronto coach Sam Mitchell said. Lou Williams scored 16 points, Andre Iguodala added 15, Elton Brand had 14 points and 13 rebounds in his Sixers debut and Samuel Dalembert pulled down 17 rebounds. Andre Miller had 13 points. "It's disappointing," Brand said of the loss. "There's [game] tape in the background and I see these layups they got. It hurts." The Sixers lured Brand away from the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer and signed the free-agent forward to a five-year, $79.8 million contract. Brand was limited to only eight games last season because of a ruptured left Achilles. The Sixers took a chance on the nine-year veteran, who is one of four active players in the league to have averaged a double-double for his career along with Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Shaquille O'Neal. Brand entered the 2008-09 season with career averages of 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds. Philadelphia started 18-30 last season but rallied to finish at 40-42. The Sixers then pushed the Detroit Pistons to six hard-fought games in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs before falling short. Toronto outscored the Sixers 33-24 in the second quarter to take a 51-45 lead at halftime. The Raptors built a 14-point lead on a 3-pointer by Jose Calderon with 44.8 seconds left in the third quarter. But a basket by Brand and three free throws by Williams -- after being fouled on a 3-pointer -- cut the lead to 74-65 at the end of the quarter. Toronto led by as many as 14 in the second half and maintained a steady lead throughout most of the fourth quarter. A three-point play by Williams with 2:39 left cut the Raptors lead to 88-82. "I thought we had the momentum back, but it wasn't meant to be," Williams said. Bosh responded with a jumper and Kapono hit a 3-pointer, giving Toronto a commanding 93-82 advantage. The Raptors connected on 10-of-16 3-pointers, which helped offset a rebounding deficit of 56-33. "Obviously, we're a good shooting team," Kapono said. "Our wing guys can make shots. Our big guys can make shots. We have to improve some on the boards. It was a huge road win against a quality team." Game notes Philadelphia forward Marreese Speights, the team's first-round draft choice, was inactive. Despite being on the active roster, Sixers guard Royal Ivey was ineligible to play against the Raptors as well as Friday against New York. Ivey was suspended for three games on April 14 of last season while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. He punched Chicago's Aaron Gray in the groin and sat out the regular-season finale at Minnesota, the first of three games. Made by NBA TV.

Stephen Jackson atoned for a bunch of misses with one clutch play. Jackson's layup with 2.9 seconds left lifted the Indiana Pacers to a 94-93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. Allen Iverson had 33 points and nine assists, but couldn't lead the Sixers to their third straight victory. Anthony Johnson had 18 points and Jackson scored 15 for Indiana, which has won three of four. Down by one point, the Pacers got possession after a shot-clock violation on Philadelphia with 4.9 seconds left. Sarunas Jasikevicius threw an inbound pass to Jackson, who went around a stumbling Kyle Korver to make an uncontested shot. "I was 0-for-infinity," Jackson said. "I just wanted to make a shot. We knew they'd switch. I went backdoor and got to the basket. My teammates showed confidence in me to give me the ball. It seemed like I hadn't made a shot all game." Jackson missed 15 of his first 19 shots before the easy layup. Chris Webber then missed a jumper at the buzzer after an inbound pass from Iverson. "For that to happen with 4.9 seconds left, it's devastating," Iverson said. Korver was a surprise presence on the floor at that end, considering he lost his starting job because of his poor defense. "We didn't make the correct switch," Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said without singling out which player made the defensive mistake. "Whoever didn't make the switch didn't do it on purpose. This isn't about placing blame, it's about figuring out how to do it right at the end." Iverson has scored 120 points and dished out 31 assists in three games since he was snubbed for the U.S. national team. He reached 40 points and 10 assists in consecutive games for the first time in his 10-year career, but fell short of doing it again. After a turnover by Peja Stojakovic, Iverson sank a fadeaway jumper to give the Sixers a 91-90 lead with 2:26 left. John Salmons forced Fred Jones to commit another turnover, but Iverson's jumper was short and the Pacers reclaimed the lead on Johnson's turnaround shot. Webber made two free throws with 50.3 seconds left to put Philadelphia ahead 93-92. Jackson then missed a long jumper from the corner and Korver grabbed the rebound, but the Sixers couldn't get another shot and gave it back to Indiana. "That was my fault," Iverson said. "They played good defense and I made a bad play." The Pacers (30-26) stayed ahead of Philadelphia (30-29) in the Eastern Conference playoff race. "It was a great win for us," Johnson said. "That's the type of game that had been going against us this year." Iverson had 12 of Philadelphia's first 14 points in the third quarter, but the Sixers couldn't pull away. Jones had a reverse dunk off an alley-oop pass from Stojakovic to give Indiana a 69-66 lead late in the third. Jones and Jasikevicius then hit 3-pointers to extend the margin to 77-71 going into the fourth quarter. Neither team led by more than five points in the first half. Webber had a reverse slam and Iverson made consecutive jumpers late in the second quarter before Webber added another dunk to give Philadelphia a 46-45 lead at halftime. Game notes Steven Hunter made his sixth straight start at center for the Sixers, with Samuel Dalembert coming off the bench for the third game in a row after missing three with an ankle injury. Dalembert made all three of his shots -- all dunks. ... Forward Jermaine O'Neal (groin), guard Jamaal Tinsley (elbow) and forward Austin Croshere (concussion) remained sidelined for the depleted Pacers. ... The teams have split two of their three meetings. In 1½ seasons, the Sixers are 26-18 when Iverson and Webber score at least a combined 50 points . ... Indiana's Danny Granger fouled out with under a minute left. ... Stojakovic spent most of the fourth quarter on the bench.

LAS VEGAS, July 17 -- Jamont Gordon's layup with 0.6 seconds left gave the Philadelphia 76ers an 87-85 victory over the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Summer League Presented by EA Sports at COX Pavilion. Philadelphia held an eight-point lead in the third quarter, but Toronto rallied in the final period behind John Lucas, whose consecutive buckets tied the game at 72. Two free throws by Lucas gave the Raptors an 84-79 lead with 51 seconds to play before the 76ers closed with an 8-1 burst. Thaddeus Young had two foul shots and a basket around a hoop by Jason Smith to tie the game. An apparent go-ahead basket by Jaycee Carroll was erased by an offensive foul, and the 76ers ran a nice out-of-bounds play that resulted in Gordon's game-winning reverse layup with an assist by rookie Marreese Speights. Philadelphia had balanced scoring with five players in double digits, led by Young's 21 points. Speights had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Smith had 12 and 12. Speights scored 10 points in the second quarter, helping Philadelphia take a 45-39 lead into the locker room. Toronto big man C.J. Giles had a solid half with nine points and 10 rebounds as he kept his squad in striking distance. The Raptors were led by Joey Graham's 17 points. The 76ers finished the Summer League with a 3-2 record. The Raptors meet the Lakers in Friday's first game inside the Thomas & Mack Center. Made by NBA TV.

Allen Iverson had the ball in his hands and the game on the line, yet couldn't produce the ending he'd hoped for. Iverson, playing in Philadelphia for the first time since being traded to Denver in December 2006, led all scorers with 32 points Wednesday night. But it was the 76ers who made the big plays down the stretch and spoiled their former MVP's return with a 115-113 victory over the Nuggets. "I dreamed it up a certain way, and it was better than that," Iverson said. "Everything was perfect but one thing, and that was not winning the game." Iverson misfired on a 20-foot jumper and Marcus Camby missed a put-back in the final seconds as the Nuggets lost their second straight and failed to pick up any ground in their bid for a playoff spot in the tough Western Conference. "I almost had a perfect trip at my home away from home," Iverson said. Samuel Dalembert scored the decisive basket with 32.9 seconds remaining. When Andre Iguodala lost possession of the ball as he fell, Dalembert was there to grab it and turned for a lay-in. Andre Miller, acquired by the Sixers in the Iverson trade, scored 28 points on his 32nd birthday and the 76ers reached the .500 mark (34-34) for the first time since opening the season at 2-2. Even in defeat, the night belonged to Iverson, who received a hero's welcome from the sellout crowd of 20,674 at the Wachovia Center. All eyes were on the former 76ers star when he trotted out for pregame warm-ups. The ovation grew louder, and then Iverson made his way to center court, where he dropped down and kissed the 76ers logo. The affection between the 2001 NBA MVP and the fans intensified throughout the pregame. When Iverson was introduced, the fans showered him with raucous applause and a lengthy standing ovation. He worked the crowd by putting his hand to his ear and turning to each corner of the arena as the roar grew louder. The applause was only cut short by the introduction of the rest of the Denver lineup. "It almost got to me," Iverson acknowledged. "It made me feel good. It made me feel appreciated." Just before the game started, Iverson trotted down the sideline to the Sixers' bench and embraced former coach Maurice Cheeks, the first time the two got together since he was traded 15 months before. "It felt great for him to do that," said Cheeks, the Sixers coach. "We didn't want to make a scene. I thought everyone was excited about it when it happened." Cheeks couldn't help but notice the reception for his former star. "I got to watching him and got a little touched by it," Cheeks said. While Iverson got the reception he had hoped for, the Sixers got the win. "We knew it would be emotional," Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin said. "They didn't want to have a player come in and get the love, but lose the game." Iguodala scored 21 points, Dalembert added 17 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots, including four in the last quarter. Willie Green added 16 points and Rodney Carney 11. "That was like a playoff game out there," Cheeks said. "The game was just drama and I thought our guys handled it well. "We're not in the playoffs yet, but we're trying to get there." Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points, Martin added 22 and Anthony Carter 12 for the Nuggets. After opening the second half with a 10-point run, the Nuggets struggled with their shots at the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth, going 0-for-15 in one stretch. Iverson ended the drought with 14-foot jumper with 7:10 remaining. Nuggets coach George Karl was satisfied with his team's performance. "Other than our defensive intensity in the first half, trying to outshoot a team playing with a lot of confidence hurt us," he said. Iverson's impact was immediate as he fed Anthony for a game-opening 3-pointer and scored his first points on a 14-foot jumper at the 6:32 mark of the first quarter. Iverson, who had 12 points and five assists in the first half, added nine points in Denver's third-quarter run. Game notes The Sixers are 16-4 in their last 20 games and 10-1 in their last 11. ... The Nuggets move on to play the Nets in New Jersey on Friday. ... The 76ers travel to Orlando to take on the Magic on Friday night.

PHILADELPHIA, March 28, 2008 (AP) -- Shaquille O'Neal has played with Phoenix long enough to know the Suns don't go on three-game losing streaks. Amare Stoudemire scored 22 points, Raja Bell had 20 and the Phoenix Suns avoided their first three-game losing skid of the season with a 107-93 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. The Suns lost consecutive road games at Detroit and Boston, yet had little problem thrashing the 76ers. "We let two slip away and we knew this team (the 76ers) was a hot team, so thank God we got off to a fast start,'' O'Neal said. O'Neal had 15 points and 13 rebounds, Leandro Barbosa scored 17 points and Steve Nash had 10 assists to help the Suns race to a 50-26 lead. Andre Miller had 16 points and 10 assists, Louis Williams scored 15 points and Andre Iguodala had 13 for Philadelphia. The Sixers snapped a three-game winning streak, fell to 11-3 in March and lost for only the second time in their last 14 home games. Still, they did show some fight in the third, slicing a 24-point deficit all the way down to 10 on Rodney Carney's driving layup late in the quarter. The Sixers had some pretty fantastic comebacks and after a few minutes of inspired basketball, this one seemed almost poised to be the latest. The Suns were simply too sharp from the floor and blew the game back open in the fourth. Stoudemire had a pair of rattling jams and Boris Diaw hit a 3 during an 11-2 run that pushed the lead back to 21 points. The air was out of another packed crowd and the Sixers had no more runs left. "We had a good enough focus and good enough energy and when we do that, we're tough to beat,'' Bell said. The Sixers have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA because of their speedy transition game, easy baskets and a defense that ranked seventh in the league in fewest points allowed. All three of those parts vanished early and Philadelphia stumbled out to one its worst first quarters since turning its season around nearly two months ago. The Sixers missed 13 straight shots to start the game and didn't make a field goal until Miller swished a jumper with 4:55 left in the first quarter. "They were pretty crisp and we weren't as crisp,'' Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. Phoenix already led by double digits and buried the Sixers with 20 points in the paint in the first. O'Neal and Stoudemire had uncontested dunks - O'Neal sometimes humorously swatting Samuel Dalembert off him like a buzzing fly - and Bell was left open for some 3-pointers. O'Neal said he's adjusted to the Suns looking for Stoudemire as their first option, and the Suns have been careful not to forget about O'Neal in the offense or go to him too much. O'Neal is fine with his new role. "It's obvious I can't do the same things I could when I was 26 and I'm not going to try and be the first experimental case,'' O'Neal said. "This team was winning 50, 55 games without me. I don't want to come in and push my way, push my style on them and force us to possibly go down and really take the blame.'' The Sixers gamely tried to rally and Carney sank a jumper with 4.8 seconds left in the half, as the crowd and the bench both went wild - for a moment. Nash raced back down and answered with a 17-footer with 0.2 seconds left and a 61-44 lead at the break. "They came out making shots and pushing the ball down our throats,'' Cheeks said. "It's hard to come back against them. We tried our best, but couldn't knock them down.'' Notes: Phoenix's 38 points in the first quarter were the most allowed by the 76ers in that quarter this season. The Sixers had allowed 34 points in the first quarter to the Lakers in January. ... The Sixers had won four straight at home. ... Phoenix ends a four-game road trip Saturday at Detroit.
