San Francisco Giants happens..SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- It's been 50 years since the San Francisco Giants brought major league baseball to the West Coast along with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Tuesday marked the 50th anniversary of the first game played by the Giants at Seals Stadium, where they played the Dodgers on April 15, 1958.
The team formally recognized and celebrated the club's move West before the first pitch with Arizona at the Giants' new waterfront home at AT&T Park. There also was an earlier ceremony held at the exact location of where Seals Stadium used to stand and a commemorative plaque was laid in the ground.
Family members of the ownership group that made the move happen were honored, with Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda on hand and Jon Miller recreating the opening minutes of the broadcast by Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons.
John Bowker from the San Francisco Giants hit's his first ever triple. John Bowker plays first base for the Giants. Future allstar.John B. Bowker (born July 8, 1983 in Sacramento, California) is a Major League Baseball corner outfielder and a first baseman. for the San Francisco Giants. He bats and throws left-handed.
Prior to playing professional baseball, John played for Arden Little League as a Giant. Bowker attended Rio Americano High School in Sacramento and was named All- League in 3 sports after lettering 3 years in baseball, 2 seasons in football and 1 in basketball. He established school single-season records for avg. (.463) hits (41), HRs (8) and RBI (41). He spent two years at Long Beach State University, before entering draft following sophomore campaign. Batting .323 over that time, he was named to the 1st Team All-Big West after leading the LBSU 49ers to the NCAA Super Regionals in 2004.
Fuck the Giants. Fuck orange and black. Fuck the Gay Bay. Fuck the Golden Gate Bridge. Fuck the Cable Cars. Fuck Castro District. Fuck Fisherman's Wharf. Fuck Lombard Street. Fuck Telephone Park. Fuck all the myopic Gnat fans. 1954, motherfuckers. 0 rings in Frisco. TWICE, the Giants tried to leave gaytown for another city. Think blue, bitches.
Candlestick Park wasn't such a bad place to see a baseball game - during the day that is. The winds didn't tend to kick up until late in the afternoon, so before that happened you could watch the Giants under a warm sunny sky, take off your shirt and have a cold beer.
This video was made on August 23, 1992. The Giants were going nowhere that year in the National League West, but we all worried that they were going to Tampa Bay at the end of the year. It looked like the end of the line for the San Francisco Giants, so I wanted to get in at least one more game before they deserted the City by the Bay.
They played the excellent Pittsburgh Pirates that day, who were on their way to a National League Eastern Division title. The star of that team was Barry Bonds.
Although the Pirates were a better team, Giant pitcher Bud Black pitched a terrific game, and with help from relief pitcher Rod Beck got the win in a 5-2 game.
As it turned out, the Giants didn't go to Tampa Bay after all. Ironically, it was the owner of the much-hated Los Angeles Dodgers who prevented that from happening. He helped block the sale of the team, leading to new buyers emerging who were committed to keeping the Giants in San Francisco. The following season, the Giants had Barry Bonds and the team had its best year ever in San Francisco, finishing with 103 victories. Incredibly, it wasn't enough to make the playoffs! The Atlanta Braves won 104 games to edge out the Giants. There was no wild-card in baseball then, so the Giants went home a very frustrated team.
The Giants played their last game in Candlestick Park in 1999 before moving to their beautiful new park, currently called AT&T Park. Candlestick Park is still there (called Monster Park now) and is the home of the San Francisco 49er football team.

SportsAngels No Hit Dodgers, and LoseAngels No Hit Dodgers, and LoseThe Associated PressThe Dodgers became the fourth team in modern major league history to win a game in which they didn't get a hit, defeating the Angels 1-0 Saturday night. Okay, here's the explanation for this vid. I'm not a Dodgers fan (I'm a VERY BIG Mets fan). But i saw this live and i said to myself "I gotta re-enact this" There will be a new Mets vid, so Mets fans don't worry. I JUST had to do this
A modded version of MVP Baseball 2005 is used to re-enact the Dodgers hitting 4 back to back homers on September 18 2006
Highlights from the 1955 World Series. Brooklyn Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in seven games. I notice MLB.com doesn't have them up, even if you pay. Of course if it isn't pro-Yankee it doesn't exist, so I will upload for you all.

It was easily the most Incredible Game at Dodger Sadium since 1988, When Kirk Gibson Hit The Home Run in Game 1 that crushed the A's. Dodgers fans have waited 20 years for this moment, and they were not dissapointed. The Dodgers swept the Cubs in the NLDS in 3 games to 0, winning the game tonight, 3 to 1 - For thier first winning playoff series since the Magical 1988 season. I shot this video live as the ninth inning started. Russel Martin had two clutch doubles for two RBI, James Loney was named the series MVP, as he broke the record for a NLDS with 6 runs batted in, including a grand slam. See you at the NLCS - The Dodgers will play either Milwakee or Philidelphia. Go Blue!!

Well, it was history in the making when the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Los Angeles Angles in a stadium outside of Southern California. After 55 years in Vero Beach, Florida, the Dodgers are moving their spring training home to Arizona next year. As a warm-up, the Dodgers played the Angels in a game at the spring training home of the A's who are in Japan getting ready to be slaughtered by the Bosox to open the season.
It was a huge crowd mostly filled with Dodgers fans who have been longing to see their team in spring training. A seven-hour drive versus a flight to Florida...you do the math.
It was semi-surrealistic to see the blue uniforms on a spring training field, and LA started most of their regulars except for the handful who are hurt. It was also really odd to see Joe Torre in an LA uniform wearing Steve Garvey's old number.
The Angels look fairly formidable even without Vlad in the lineup. Torii Hunter is a huge addition to the team, and speaking of huge, Andruw Jones, the new centerfielder for the Dodgers, looks like he spent the offseason exercising the knife and fork.
Ah, one more note: with Nomar and Andy LaRoche on the disabled list, Blake DeWitt, one of the Dodgers top prospects is filling in at third base. He is a native of Sikeston, Missouri, the home of the top place to pig out in America (according to the Travel Channel).
