Belichick and the Patriots ran up the score against the Redskins. We can't expect more from a bunch of classless New England pansies that they are.

Even a dumbass kids puppet knows the deal...the World Champion Boston Red Sox are the steak and the sizzle...the Yankees are pretender also-rans with a bloated payroll and sense of self-worth and nothing to show for it but a lot of "we were great in 1927" excuses. Suck it, yankees fans, bow down!!

Julio Lugo is garbage. Maybe he's a nice guy, but as a baseball player he is pure ass. Francona could use a pitcher as a designated hitter for him and it'd be a good move, that's how much he sucks. Now he's hurt. HURRAY!!! Papi's back on 7/25, all is well in the world. Go Jed Lowrie, go jed Lowrie.

Mo is undisputably the best closer of all time even if he is does happen to drink chicken blood before every outing. I'd love nothing more than to see him come in to "Sandman" in the ninth with the A.L. up by a run...then he can blow it and Paps can come in and save his third-place pinstriped ass!!!

Stick a fork in the Chokees, they're done. All those overhyped, overpaid, underachieving losers should get their gear ready now so that they don't have to hang around the clubhouse too long after the last regular season game...the "final season" is just about a wrap. Pavano will put the bow on it.

You gotta give it up to the Rays. Everyone expected them to fold, and everyone probably STILL does, but I'll be damned if they don't look really tough, really scrappy, and downright magical. Sometimes the ball bounces the right way for teams, and it's looking like that could be the case for them.

Thumbnail image for: ALDS preview: LackeyALDS preview: Lackey's got nada (MLB)

John Lackey, you lack post-season poise. Every time the Red Sox face you in the playoffs, you lose. No shame in that. It is in your nature. Just acknowledge that you can't beat them, throw the obligatory meatballs to Papi, and go take your seat on the bench next to the water cooler.

The National's original home, Cincinnati, is also home to a Major League Baseball team, the Reds (neat-o!). Watch the team's former home, Riverfront Stadium (also known as Cinergy Field), collapse as the city makes way for its new Great American Ball Park. Thanks to The National's drummer Bryan Devendorf for the file.

Barnsley FC's memorable League Cup victory of 1981 at Oakwell. The Reds had already knocked out first division teams Brighton and Swansea City in the previous rounds. The atmosphere in Oakwell was electric and it was standing room only back then apart from the upper tier of the old West Stand. A fantastic night for the Barnsley supporters and if you were there you will enjoy seeing this action again. There's a striking similarity too to Ayloytt's winner and the one which saw the Reds beat Chelsea in the FA cup last year.

Thumbnail image for: Adelaide United v Kuruvchi Bunyodkor 8-Oct-2008Adelaide United v Kuruvchi Bunyodkor 8-Oct-2008

Adelaide United v Kuruvchi Bunyodkor 8-Oct-2008 Reds' enterprise rewarded It was an amazing night that got better and better and better. The city of churches had never seen anything like it. Nor did Australian club football. Adelaide United did themselves and their country proud with a divine performance that bordered on fantasy football. The proud Reds crushed Uzbekistan champions Bunyodkor 3-0 to take a commanding lead going into the return leg of the AFC Champions League semi-finals. They are now quite entitled to dream of becoming the first Australian club to win the ACL. And on this evidence who would bet against them? But thats only part of the story. If Adelaide go on to reach next months two-legged final against Gamba Osaka or holders Urawa Reds, who drew 1-1 in the other semi-final, they would qualify for the rich Club World Cup in Japan in December regardless of whether they win the ACL. And the man poised to mastermind the Reds surge across Asia is none other than young coach Aurelio Vidmar. The former Socceroos striker is very much an apprentice in terms of football coaching. And he was up against a master in former World Cup legend Zico. Im flattered, Vidmar said when told that the Brazilian had complimented him for his teams performances. Zico was one of my childhood heroes. He was a fantastic player, a great midfielder. He was in the Brazilian team throughout the 80s that were just fantastic to watch. But hes got many more years in front of me. This is only my second year as a coach and I would like to stay in the game for a long time. Vidmar showed on Wednesday night that he was poised to become one of Australias finest young coaches not so much for the emphatic if flattering 3-0 win but for the way he changed things around after a shaky start. Bunyodkor were marginally the better and more positive team in the first half but Adelaide came into the picture when they started playing longer balls with a more direct approach to which the Uzbeks had no answer. Zicos men did not appear to have a plan B and their heads seemed to drop when midfielder Fabian Barbiero scored the second goal with 15 minutes to go. So the apprentice came out on top in this fascinating confrontation between two clubs that almost had no right to be playing on the same pitch. They certainly are not on a level playing field. The Tashkent club formerly known as Kuruvchi has been transformed since it was taken over by rich moguls this year. They came to Australia from Tashkent with a 30-member squad led by $9m a year superstar Rivaldo on a charter flight travelling in comfort. Adelaide will have to get by with economy travel on scheduled flights and pull a few strings just to get out of the airport as Vidmar put it. We certainly will be backs to the wall when we start travelling again, Vidmar said. 9 October 2008 | 07:33 - SBS: Philip Micallef http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/asia/reds-enterprise-rewarded-143142/

A letter from Luis to Liverpool FC Dear Reds, First of all I'd like to apologise for not having been back in touch sooner, but I needed to take some time to take on board all the recent changes and then to put down these words for you. I'm sure you will understand. I would rather this be a letter of thanks and gratitude, not simply a goodbye. Yes, that's right, gratitude, because that is the word that best sums up my feelings for you all. Taking the decision to change clubs hasn't been easy. Not easy at all. I've experienced three fantastic years at the club and in the city. Three years in which together, the fans and the team, we have accomplished some fantastic achievements, and I'm sure that these successes will continue to be repeated in the near future. You know that I like a challenge and that I don't just settle for second best. Back then Liverpool Football Club gave me the opportunity to be part of an ambitious plan to put the Reds back at the summit of the game. I think that together we managed to achieve that. As I said, I do like challenges and in spite of the fact that at that time I was playing for my home town club, one of the biggest in the world, I wanted to be a part of that project that was being presented to me by Liverpool, and so I accepted the challenge. Now, after three seasons in the Premier League and having won some major trophies, the chance came up for me to return to La Liga and be part of a new project at a club I already knew. The idea of enjoying things in a Spanish club like we experienced together at Liverpool over these last three years appealed to me, and that's why I accepted the offer. I want to thank everyone working at Liverpool Football Club for how well they have treated both my family and I, making us feel at home from the very first day to the last. I also want to than
